Transition Events Summary
Below is a timeline of our upcoming transition events to help your child feel more comfortable coming to Kindergarten. Feel free to attend as many events as you can! Click the links on this page to take you to details about each event.
All events will have an RSVP link that will be emailed to incoming Kindergarten Families prior to each event so we can have an accurate count for materials. These emails will also include additional details for the event.

First Day Jitters
Students will meet Principal Hoffman and Assistant Principal Seitz as they listen to a story and complete an activity together.
This is a fun and easy way for families to get comfortable with the building in a calm, welcoming atmosphere.
🏫 Kindergarten Classroom Visits
April 17, 2026
(1:00 – 1:30 PM or 3:00 – 3:30 PM)
Students and parents/guardians will engage in a story and activity with one of our Kindergarten Teachers. This is a great way to see the inside of a classroom and get to know other incoming kindergartners, their families, and our West York Staff!

April 22, 2026
(5:30 – 7:00 PM)
Incoming Kindergartners and their family will participate in center rotations with activities and games that focus on building the ELA and MATH prerequisite skills for kindergarten.

Starting February 1, 2026, you will need to go to our district website: www.wyasd.org/registration and begin the online registration process. After you complete this step, you will be prompted to call the main office at Wallace Elementary to schedule an appointment during one of the three weeks listed above.

🐠'Splish! Splash! Swimming into K'
June 24, 2026 (10:00 - 11:00 AM) Beach-Themed
July 1, 2026 (2:00 - 3:00 PM) Road Trip-Themed
July 8, 2026 (10:00 - 11:00 AM) Camping-Themed
You and your child will explore kindergarten readiness skills through a variety of themed activities. These are fun, relaxed center rotations that include ELA and MATH components.

Parents/Guardians will attend the first day of school with their child to learn more about daily schedules, expectations, and meet the teacher. While the adults meet with their child's teacher, students will listen to a story with our Principal and Assistant Principal, talk about the exciting things they will do in Kindergarten, and will get to go on a short bus ride with their adult at the end! Details of this event will be released closer to the date.
